Statham, GA (April 28, 2009) – Cunningham Motorsports went to Talladega Superspeedway with the goals of a good finish and to come home in one piece. They accomplished both goals and moved the #77 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge Charger into the lead of overall points. Talladega was a bit trifling for the team but overall they came out on top.
Ken Weaver in the #4 Tri Color Dodge Charger concluded his day after only three laps into the ARCA RE/MAX 250 due to engine problems. The #77 Cunningham Motorsports team was hoping for a change of luck this weekend but due to circumstances out of their control they will have to put that energy into the upcoming race at Kentucky Speedway in a few weeks.
The #77 Cunningham Driver Development Dodge team with Parker Kligerman behind the wheel brought their team into the spot light this weekend. Parker finished 7th in the race which moved him into the first place in the overall points race. Kligerman, a rookie, is leading by 5 points and plans to continue his drive to the top. Kligerman has yet to win a race this year but his consistency has been the key in the point’s race.
“We had a great car for Talladega. Chris Carrier and the Cunningham Motorsports team really work hard on these race cars. That last run I just ran out of friends, I think if we had someone hanging with us we could have won the race. I am looking forward to the test at Kentucky this week. The track will give us a good indication on where we need to make our adjustments with down force being a major factor. The experience I am getting on these tracks during testing has really allowed us to dial in the race car. We will go to Kentucky this week and get ready for the event next month.” Kligerman is preparing for the hot summer run in the ARCA REMAX Series. His trainer has him working hard on endurance and hydration. “The races we have coming up are critical to our team, so I need to be in top physical condition for each and every race.”
Cunningham Motorsports will be testing at Kentucky Speedway this Wednesday in preparation for the upcoming event there on May 9th. They plan on acquiring pertinent information in order to be successful at Kentucky in a few weeks.
