Dennis Setzer / MRD Motorsports Nashville Post Race Report

Filed under Press Releases, Truck Series

The MRD Motorsports team unloaded another finely tuned race truck that Randy Dean and Crew had prepared for Dennis, and he showed just how good it was by going out and posting the fastest time in first practice. Backing it up with a solid run in final practice and then we out thought ourselves for qualifying made an air pressure adjustment and it just flat out didn’t work, causing Dennis to post a 23rd starting spot 12th row inside. The race was started with everyone knowing on lap 35 there would be a mandatory competition caution for teams to check tire wear due to the rain this afternoon.

Dennis raced hard when the green came out knowing he had a lot track to make up tonight, along with the threat of rain in the area that could possibly shorten tonight’s race. Dennis new he needed to race hard and yet save his tires. When the caution came out with about 40 laps to go Randy Dean and Crew brought in the MRD Motorsports #8 Chevy Silverado for it’s last service of the night and Dennis rolled back out on the track in the sixteenth position. Dennis raced extremely hard in the last laps of the race and picked up eight positions to finish in the 8th position tonight.

Dennis with this 8th place finish continues to hold on to Eighth Place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points just 105 points out of the fifth position and Dave Malcomson moves up to the 17th place in owners point with just running 12 of the 14 events. MRD Motorsports continues to race this year having yet to secure a full time sponsor, and Dave Malcomson funding this entire operation out of his own checkbook.

This is a race team that anyone should be proud to have carry their Logo and Colors to represent them, it’s solid, runs up front week in and week out and has outstanding character. We are actively recruiting sponsors for the rest of 2009 and seeking that primary sponsor for 2010.

Now it’s onto Bristol Motor speedway, in two weeks August 19th 2009 for the O’Reilly 200 live on Speed TV at 8:30 PM Est.
