Scott Wimmer NASCAR Nationwide Series Advance: Michigan International Speedway

HE’S BACK – Scott Wimmer returns to the No. 40 StopRepairBills.com Chevrolet this weekend at Michigan International Speedway after a three-week hiatus from the ride. Wimmer spent two weeks racing the No. 5 for JR Motorsports and attended last weekend’s race at Watkins Glen International as a spotter and driver coach for Jeffrey Earnhardt’s NNS debut.

A VERY SPECIAL GUEST – Key Motorsports is honored to have Brian “Little B” Freeman and his parents as special guest of the team at MIS this weekend. Brian is a seven-year-old NASCAR fan with Neurofibromatosis, a genetically-inherited disease in which nerve tissue grows tumors. Brian, who hopes to one day drive a race car himself, will get to share the weekend with Scott Wimmer and the entire Key Motorsports crew, and will have a special seat atop the pit box for Saturday’s CARFAX 250.

A BETTER MIS – Michigan International Speedway has made many improvements for this year’s races. In addition to a new digital scoreboard, grandstand, and PA system, MIS has improved traffic patterns and pedestrian signage. To make improvements to the planet, both of this weekend’s races will be completely carbon-neutral. The Conservation Fund will offset the carbon dioxide from every aspect of race day: the gasoline used by the cars, energy used by the venue, and both team and fan travel.

CHASSIS INFORMATION – Key Motorsports will be utilizing chassis #006 at this weekend’s race at Michigan International Speedway. The team most recently raced the #006 to a 15th-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.

POINTS UPDATE – The No. 40 remains 23rd in the NNS owner points after Jeffrey Earnhardt’s NNS debut at Watkins Glen International. Curtis Key’s entry now sits 273 points inside the top-30.

Scott Wimmer Quotes:

ON MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY – “I’m excited to go to Michigan, our intermediate stuff has been pretty good this year. Michigan is one of the biggest open tracks we go to and I think we’ll have a good chance of running top-15. Our goal is to get into the top-10 and move up from there. Gary and the guys have been working real hard on the cars…we lost a couple cars at Iowa, but we’ve got a real good car for this weekend and hopefully we can continue back on the momentum of top-15’s we had a few weeks ago.”
