MILLVILLE, New Jersey (September 8, 2009) – - A string of two consecutive top-10 finishes in the ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) have propelled Bryan Silas back to fifth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings following a 10th place run in Monday’s Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

The finish on the dirt marked a second consecutive top-10 finish at the “Magic Mile” for the Stuart, Florida native.

After practicing 14th Monday morning, Silas qualified a solid 16th for his third start at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Early on, Silas was holding steady in his No. 11 Rockingham Speedway-Holland Pump Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS but the driver was kicked from behind early while trying to avoid an accident in front of him which put the Fast Track Racing driver at the tail end of the field. With a short race on tap, Silas used pit strategy and determination to climb back through the field, awarding Silas and his team a 10th place finish.

Clearly momentum is on Silas’s side as the ARCA RE/MAX Series now treks back to New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) for the running of Sunday’s The South Jersey Building Trades 150. Not known for his road course racing skills, the 22-year old participated in a private test at the newly built road course last month.

“I’m looking forward to New Jersey this weekend,” said Silas. “I think that the road course race might be my biggest challenge of the year but it’s also a lot of fun too. I think testing there last month will be a huge plus for our Fast Track Racing team and hopefully we’ll walk away with our 10th top-10 finish of the year.”

In his road course debut last year, Silas qualified a noteworthy 14th and had a top-10 finish in his sights but a routine pit stop hurt many of the ARCA RE/MAX Series teams including Silas when ARCA officials called the race for rain shortly before going back to green. He ended the day in the 17th position.

Nason, Yeager, Gerson, White & Lioce P.A., Holland Pump, Oasis Outsourcing, Palm Beach Grading (PBG) and Rockingham Speedway will all sponsor Silas’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for his 68th career ARCA start.

The South Jersey Building Trades 150 (150 miles / 67 laps) is the 18th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The second ARCA event held at the New Jersey Motorsports Park is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, September 12 with a one hour practice session planned from 12:20 p.m. – 1:20 p.m. A final “happy hour” session has been etched in for 1:50 p.m. – 2:50 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. The field will take the green flag on Sunday, September 13 shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will not be televised but broadcast coverage will be available live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
