Matt Kenseth and the No. 17 DEWALT racing team enter this weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway looking to build off the momentum of last week’s third-place finish at Dover. The finish snapped a 15-race streak without a top five, as the team looks to embark on a new streak this weekend at Kansas.

Kansas Speedway

1.5-mile
267 laps, 400 miles
ABC – 2:00 p.m. EDT – Prerace – 1:00 p.m.

AT KANSAS

This will be Kenseth’s ninth Sprint Cup start at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway, where in eight previous starts he has totaled one pole, two top-fives and three top-10 finsihes. Kenseth has finished inside the top five in two of the last four, while leading 169 laps in the last four.

ON THE LEAD

Kenseth has led 49 or more laps in three of the last four races at Kansas for a total of 169 laps. In addition, he has led in four of his eight starts there.

FORTY NINE TIMES TWO

Ironically, Kenseth has led 49 laps in each of the last two Sprint Cup races at Kansas.

LOOKING FOR A FIRST

Kansas is one of 11 active tracks on the circuit where Kenseth has yet to win a Cup race. Kenseth’s 18 wins have come at 11 of the active tracks and at Rockingham (where the series stopped racing after 2004.) In addition, Kenseth has led at all 22 tracks with the exception of Sonoma.

DID YOU KNOW?

Kenseth holds the dubious distinction of being the only driver in the history of the ‘Chase’ for the Sprint Cup to hold a place inside Chase qualification (top 12) for the first 25 races of the season, while not making the final field.”

QUOTING MATT

“We had a good run last week and it felt good to run up front and be competitive. Kansas is the type of track where we have been strong over the years and we have run well there the last few years. We’ve struggled more this year at the intermediate tracks than normal, so that is something that we’ll look to work on this weekend. We still have a lot of races left in the season and we’ll still go to each one looking to run up front and compete.”

FAST FACTS

· Kenseth has two top five and three top 10 finishes in eight starts at Kansas.

· Kenseth has finished inside the top five in two of his last four starts at Kansas.

· Kenseth has led a total of 183 laps at Kansas, including 169 in the last four races.

· Kenseth has led in three of the last four races at Kansas.

· Kenseth has led 49 laps in each of the last two races at Kansas.
