Bishop, Calif. (October 7, 2009) – Don’t let Stanton Barrett’s absence from the IndyCar Series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway fool you. He jumped into IndyCar with both feet in 2009 and plans to stay.

Barrett wanted to start his fifth race of the season in the No. 98 Team 3G car this weekend. But, due to a lack of complete funding, the team turned to other drivers with sponsors for Homestead and other 2009 events that Barrett did not compete in.

“I was looking forward to racing at Homestead,” Barrett said. “I tested there this spring and really liked it, and I was pumped about going back. We are all working to find the proper sponsorship for 2010 and, like for many others, that’s really going to help with more seat time.”

Barrett started four races this season for Team 3G, including the season opener in St. Petersburg, Fla. Despite the race being Barrett’s first in an IndyCar, he drove to a 12th-place finish on the streets of St. Pete, securing Team 3G’s highest finish of the 2009 season to date. Barrett was last behind the wheel of the No. 98 at last month’s Japan Indy 300 at Twin Ring Motegi. The team lost several laps while making repairs on pit road, but on the track Barrett ran strong and finished 19th.

He is now looking ahead to the 2010 season, when he plans to be back in the IndyCar Series.

“Right now, I’m working to see which races I can run next year,” Barrett said. “I had a blast in the races I ran this year and I learned a lot. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again and with as competitive equipment as possible.”
