Auto Club Speedway to Dontate Joan Jett Melody Maker Gibson Guitar

San Bernardino County, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2009) – In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Auto Club Speedway will donate a Joan Jett Melody Maker Gibson Guitar, signed by Classic Rock Band Foreigner, to help the cause. The guitar will be auctioned online at www.nascar.com/foundation starting on Monday, Oct. 12 with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Chapter.

As part of the Inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoff weekend festivities at Auto Club Speedway, Foreigner will perform live at the Speedway’s Opportunity, California FanZone stage on Sunday, Oct 11 at 10:15 a.m. PT and will sign the guitar before it is available for auction the next day.

Additionally, volunteers from the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be selling “Can’t Slow Down,” Foreigner’s new 3-disc collection including a CD of all new music, a CD of hits & a DVD of the band in Europe for only $20 on Sunday, Oct. 11 at the ACS display and near the Opportunity, California FanZone Entertainment Stage. With the help of race fans, Foreigner will donate half of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Chapter.

Race fans will also have the opportunity to purchase the 2009 NASCAR Day collectable lapel pins for only $5. Proceeds from the NASCAR Day pins will go to the Susan G Komen Inland Empire Chapter.

Through the continued generosity of supporters, this month the Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Chapter will open the Komen Inland Empire Breast Cancer Resource Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The resource center offers women and families a place to gather life-saving resources while supporting the community at large. On Oct. 18, the Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Chapter will host the 11th Annual Komen Inland Empire Race For The Cure® in Temecula, Calif.

About the Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Chapter: The Inland Empire Affiliate incorporated in 1998 and hosted its inaugural Race for the Cure in 1999. Since its inception, the Inland Empire Affiliate has awarded grants totaling over 3.5 million dollars to local non-profit organizations to fund breast health/breast cancer education outreach, diagnostic services and treatment support programs for uninsured/underinsured women and families throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties including the Coachella Valley and raised nearly $1 million to support the Award and Research Grant Program at Komen Headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
