Nur Ali Makes Final Preparations For Daytona Race
Press Release
“It was a very successful day,” said Ali, a resident of Fort Worth, TX. “We tested at Daytona in December and were very pleased with our performance. This goal of this test was to fine tune our already fast car. The team made a few aerodynamic and suspension tweaks which made the car even better. There is no doubt that we will be contenders on February 7.”
The 34-year-old driver, who has two career starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, made his series debut last season at Daytona. Prior to setting his sights on a career in stock cars, Ali spent much of his career in open-wheel cars. He was the driver for Team Pakistan in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport during the 2006-2007 season and spent eight seasons competing in the Star Mazda Series. Ali, who has raced in 12 countries, is also the first and only professional race car driver of Pakistani descent.
“It’s no secret that my background is different from most every other stock car driver,” continued Ali. “I’m honored to be the only Asian-American competing at Daytona and hope my racing inspires others to follow their dreams.”
The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway will be televised live on SPEED. The broadcast begins at 4:00 P.M. (ET). SPEED is DirecTV channel 607 and Dish Network channel 150. Check with your cable provider for SPEED in your area.
