After posting the fastest time at Michigan International Speedway last week in ARCA RE/MAX Series open testing, 18-year-old Joey Coulter is ready to conquer Pocono Raceway as the ARCA RE/MAX Series returns for the 48th running of The Pocono ARCA 200 this weekend.

Coulter has set high expectations for himself and his team as they enter the 2.5-mile tri-oval. “The Michigan test was a great self-assurance booster for my team and I. We were consistent all day despite the weather, and to come out of there on top of the speed chart…it’s a great confidence booster heading into Pocono.”

Coulter, who turned his first laps around the historic two-mile oval, posted the fasted speed in ARCA RE/MAX Series open testing last Wednesday. Coulter, in the No. 16 Darrell Gwynn/Tempest Cycles Chevrolet, circled the track in 39.116 seconds for an average speed of 184.068 mph.

“I’m going into Pocono with the same mentality as going to Salem,” stated Coulter on his weekend outlook. “I’m really going to rely on veterans Bobby Gerhart and Frank Kimmel for a lot of feedback and direction on how to get around Pocono. I’m looking to get in with those guys in practice and learn a few things for the race on Saturday.”

Coulter anticipates another top-10 finish this weekend in the ARCA Pocono 200. “I’m hoping to continue our top-10 streak this weekend, and maybe a win. A win would be the greatest birthday gift.” Coulter will celebrate his 19th birthday Monday, June 8.

The Miami Springs, Florida driver currently finds himself ninth in championship standings after six of 21 races completed and is currently third in rookie standings.

On-track activity for the Pocono ARCA 200 starts Friday, June 5; with practice from 10:15 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell follows at 1:45 p.m. The Pocono ARCA 200 kicks off Saturday afternoon, June 6, at 1:00 p.m., and will be televised same-day on SPEED at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

In addition, the ARCA Racing Network will carry live streaming audio coverage of the Pocono ARCA 200 at www.ARCAracing.com inside the ARCA Nation.
