Cunningham Motorsports: Full Steam Ahead to Mansfield
Press ReleaseStatham, GA (June 18, 2009) – The Cunningham Motorsports teams have a full head of steam moving forward to Mansfield, Ohio for this Saturday afternoon’s race. Driver Parker Kligerman will look to maintain his consistency in the points race, in order to, hold on to the top spot. Cunningham Motorsports impressive resume of drivers that are auditioning for the Driver Development program continues with the addition of Late Model Champion Hal Martin. Hal is from Galliano, Louisiana.
General Manager Mark Gibson stated, “Everyone here at Cunningham Motorsports is really looking forward to this weekend. We hope to keep the momentum from last week at Michigan going.
Parker continues to improve and surpass our expectations for a rookie. After the rough start for the #4 team, last week’s third place finish was just what we needed. Chase did a great job at Pocono and Michigan. Those races proved how good this team really is. This week Hal Martin from Galliano, Louisiana will be driving the #4 car. He is a great kid and fits in very well with our team. We plan to test Thursday at Lanier Speedway in preparation for Mansfield. The good part about a new track is that everyone is in the same shape as far as knowledge of the track. Hopefully we will have a good test and be ready to go when we check in on Saturday.”
“I’m really excited for my ARCA debut at Mansfield this weekend. I have been racing late models for four years, and was fortunate to win the Championship at Mobile, Alabama. Cunningham Motorsport has given me a great opportunity to race the #4 Dodge Charger. I am use to short tracks and if I stay out of trouble then we should have a great day. Cunningham Motorsports was a great fit for me. I met with the team and really felt good about moving forward. Hopefully everything will go well this weekend. We want to run a few more races this year and then run the full schedule for 2010 with the Cunningham Motorsports team,” added Martin.
Kligerman is looking forward to another short track victory and maintaining the points lead this weekend. Parker continues to impress both his team and competitors scoring wins on both short tracks and speedways. “This is all about expectations,” said Kligerman, “I just gave a speech in my high school speech class about this. When I head into a race weekend I don’t know anything about the track or the car so I really don’t have any expectations about how I am going to do or how the weekend will turn out. That is how I have been able to do so well.”
The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will join the ARCA RE/MAX Series for the same-day double-header at Mansfield. Race day features an action-packed day of activity with ARCA Truck practice from 1:30 to 2:30 followed by RE/MAX Series practice from 2:30 to 4:00. Qualifying for the Trucks is at 4:15 followed by RE/MAX Series qualifying (Menard Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell) at 5:00. The fan-friendly affair also features an on-track autograph session from 6:00 to 6:45. Racing gets underway at 7:00 with the 50-lap ARCA Lincoln Welders 50 Truck Series event followed by the grand finale – the Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA RE/MAX 200 mile race, set for 8:30 PM.
