Steve Arpin Brings Home Top-Five Run in ARCA Action at Mansfield
Press Release“…Taylor Motorsports / Lo-N-Bro Driver Moves to 7th in Title Chase for Eddie Sharp Racing”
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 22, 2009) — Steve Arpin left Saturday night’s ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Mansfield Motorsports Park with a smile on his face and added enthusiasm for the team with a strong fifth place finish in the ‘Tim Richmond Memorial’ event. The top-five run moved the young driver of the Taylor Motorsports / Lo-N-Bro Enterprises Toyota Camry into seventh place in the season-long championship chase on the ARCA RE/MAX tour. Arpin would lead fourteen laps of the event putting the Eddie Sharp Racing entry at the front of the field from lap 70 through 83 en route to the best performance of the season for the team.‘We had a good car right off the truck today,’ smiled Arpin. ‘ Jefferson (Hodges, crew chief) and the guys just had to do some fine tuning on our Lo-N-Bro Toyota through the night and they made all the right calls. It was a good night for us overall.’
Arpin used his tenacious driving style along with the prior experience that his crew chief, Jefferson Hodges has of the track in central Ohio to produce a solid result. The team now moves their focus to the upcoming July 11th event at Iowa Speedway seeking to move up in the championship standings and set their sights on Arpin’s first career ARCA win.
‘We’re happy with our first top five, but I do feel we had an easy top-three car,’ Arpin noted on the finish in the Tim Richmond Memorial race. ‘We had some issues with some welds breaking on the front of the chassis and I pushed the car a little too hard a little too soon there at the end,’ added the talented driver. ‘We are just getting better each week. I’m looking forward to carrying this momentum into the Iowa test and backing it up at the race. The guys have put together a pretty slick little hot rod for up there!’
Mark your calendar for Steve Arpin’s next run for the winner’s circle in the ‘Prairie Meadows 200’ at Iowa Speedway on July 11th at 8:00 p.m. (Central). The ARCA Racing Network will be covering all the on-track activity for the ARCA RE/MAX Series from Newton, Iowa.
