MARNE MI (7-22/23-09) - The untold story from last Saturday night’s Kentucky Speedway thriller was lurking in third. “Was” – being the operative word.

With less than two laps remaining in the race, Bryan Silas, on pace for a career run, and with the leaders in sight, ran out of gas. It’s doubtful that he would have caught the leaders with the time he had to work with, but he was slowly but surely catching both, nonetheless. At the very least, he would have finished third. In the end, Silas was credited with 22nd, one lap down.

“It felt really good to be in a position to win,” said Silas. “We took our chances with fuel mileage and it bit us. Good thing is, we know we have a car we can win with.

“In a way, I am really disappointed but at the same time, I feel really good. Reason why – what we did Saturday night shows that this team is capable of winning races.”

Furthermore, had Silas finished third, he would have inched even closer to nine-time series champion Frank Kimmel in championship points. Instead, the Stuart, Florida driver, who was fourth in championship points, fell to sixth.
