ARCA RE/MAX Series Invades Salem Speedway with 86th Appearance at Legendary Short Track Saturday Night September 19; Third Leg of Bill France Four Crown
Press ReleaseThe event marks the 86th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Salem since the inaugural race at the historic half-mile, high-banked oval in 1955.
The year’s Fall Classic also marks the third leg of the Bill France Four Crown, a separate title based on performance at four very diverse tracks. The tracks that make up this year’s Bill France Four Crown include the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds mile-dirt (Sept. 7th), the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course (Sept. 13th), Salem and the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway (Oct. 1st).
ARCA title contenders Justin Lofton, rookie Parker Kligerman and veteran Frank Kimmel lead a tight championship points battle into Salem, the site of Kimmel’s last victory on tour in September, ’08. Kimmel is the all-time winner at Salem with nine victories overall.
The winner’s list at Salem over the years contains a slew of ARCA champions including Kimmel, Iggy Katona, Jack Bowsher, Bill Baird, Patrick Sheltra, Justin Allgaier, Tracy Leslie, Nelson Stacy, Ron Hutcherson, Ramo Stott, Dave Dayton, Moose Myers, Marvin Smith, Bob Keselowski, Bob Brevak and Tim Steele. Other notable ARCA/Salem winners include NASCAR Cup champ Bobby Allison, ’52 Indy 500 winner Troy Ruttman, USAC/ARCA stock car veteran Don White and NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader.
In addition to the ARCA RE/MAX Series, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will join the raceday slate with a 50-lap main event. The ARCA Truck race will mark the season championship finale for the 11-year tour.
Practice for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic 200 is from 1:05 PM to 2:35 PM followed by Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 4:00 PM. The ARCA Lincoln Welders 50 goes at 5:30 followed by prerace and driver introductions for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic, scheduled to roll just after 7:00 PM.
ARCA Fall Classic Party to Feature Josh and Holly from CMT’s “Can You Duet?”
Josh and Holly, Kentuckiana’s hottest music duo, are scheduled to headline the annual Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic Party, presented by Danny’s Heating & Air and Guitars Strings & Things.
The talented duo, whose quick rise to prominence was facilitated by being selected for the 2009 edition of CMT’s “Can You Duet?”, will be performing following the 200-lap ARCA RE/MAX Series race on Saturday night, September 19th.
Josh and Holly, who were selected from over 6,000 other hopefuls for the popular reality TV show, perform a mix of county, blues and rock tunes during their live performances.
Holly, who made it to the final six in the CMT competition, grew up just southeast of Salem in Pekin, Ind., and Josh is from Louisville.
Admission to the ARCA Fall Classic Party is free for those attending the Sept. 19th race.
