POCONO, PA. — The Mattioli family has long been known for its charitable contributions through the Mattioli Foundation, so it should come as no surprise that Nick Igdalsky has promised 100 percent of his winnings in this weekend’s ARCA RE/MAX Series race at New Jersey Motorsports Park to the American Red Cross, Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter.

Igdalsky, the grandson of Drs. Joseph and Rose Mattioli, the founders of Pocono Raceway, will make his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut on Sunday, Sept. 13 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series NJMP 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J.

Igdalsky is hoping he will be able to donate the winner’s share of $12,000 from Sunday’s ARCA RE/MAX Series race to the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter’s disaster relief efforts.

“My family has a long history of working with the American Red Cross SEPA Chapter and I could not have picked a more worthy organization to benefit,” Igdalsky explained. “I am confident that we can have a good finish.”

Tom Foley, CEO of the American Red Cross SEPA Chapter, said he was extremely pleased to have Igdalsky flying the banner for the American Red Cross this weekend in New Jersey.

“We have always had a strong relationship with the Mattioli family and we are thrilled to have the exposure Nick will bring us this weekend in New Jersey,” Foley said. “We know he has a wealth of racing experience and we are hoping for a great finish for him.”

Igdalsky, who celebrated his 32nd birthday Monday, currently competes as a rookie in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge for JBS Motorsports. This weekend he will motor the #83 ModSpace / American Red Cross Ford fielded by Andy Belmont Racing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series NJMP 150.

Igdalsky is confident that, despite the fact that this weekend’s appearance in the ARCA RE/MAX Series will be his first, he will have a solid performance on the 14-turn, 2.25-mile road course at New Jersey Motorsports Park

“My goals would be to run smooth and consistently, while trying to limit rookie mistakes,” Igdalsky said. “With my experience in Grand Am and my familiarity with New Jersey Motorsports Park, I think we have a realistic shot at a top 10 finish.”

Prior to the current season of competing in the Grand-Am Koni Challenge, Igdalsky raced in the Bertil Roos Formula 2000 Series where, in two years, he amassed nine victories in only 20 starts to rank seventh in all-time series wins. In addition to winning nine times in the Bertil Roos F2000 Series, Igdalsky tallied a total of 14 top-three finishes in 20 starts.

Earlier in his racing career, Igdalsky collected 10 victories in just over two years, while competing in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division at historic South Boston (Va.) Speedway, a NASCAR-sanctioned facility.
