CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (November 19, 2009) – Frank Kimmel has never been one to sit back and relax during the off season. Therefore, in addition to his commitments to the Kimmel Racing team, the nine-time ARCA Champion enjoys the laundry list of responsibilities related to the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals. Started in 2007, Kimmel has sanctioned six events to date for street stock competitors who look forward to the opportunity to race at big name tracks.

Next up for the FKSSN is the Polar Bear 150 and it will be held at Rockingham Speedway on January 1, 2010.

“We’ve already got over 50 entries for the event so we’re hoping for a record number of participants,” said Frank Kimmel. “It’s going to be an exciting day for the Kimmel’s because my nephew Will and my son Frankie will be racing in the event. This is a first for us since we’ve never had one of the kids in the show.”

Kimmel’s nephew Will Kimmel will race the No. 69 car in his series debut. The No. 69 has significance among the Kimmel clan as it was raced by Will’s grandfather in the late 40’s. Both Frank Kimmel and Bill Kimmel Jr. have also spent time racing the number throughout the years.

Kimmel’s son Frank Kimmel II will race the No. 72 for Frank Oriti. It is the youngest Kimmel’s second start for Oriti, after making his 2009 debut for the team owner at Winchester Speedway last month.

Frank Kimmel’s goal is to sanction at least six FKSSN events in 2010. Following the January event at Rockingham, the other tracks tentatively on the schedule are North Wilkesboro Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Salem Speedway, a possible big dirt track event and a second event at Rockingham Speedway.

“This series is really a perfect deal for us as a family and it’s getting better and better each year,” said Kimmel. “Several of our competitors are NASCAR crew members so if we could get a date during the year on a NASCAR off weekend, I think our numbers would be even better than they are. I have a lot of hope for the future of the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals beginning with our next race this January in Rockingham.”

For competitors preparing to race in the Polar Bear 150 at Rockingham, there will be an open test at the track on Saturday, December 12 for street stock entries.
