Hamilton-Rensi Racing Changing With The Times
Press ReleaseWithout a doubt, the financial landscape of NASCAR is changing. Many teams are struggling to find the financial support they have become accustomed to, teams have shut down and others have merged operations. Longtime NASCAR Nationwide Series team Rensi-Hamilton Racing has gone back to the drawing board to develop a new financial model that will allow the organization to continue to compete and possibly add another racing team to the mix.
Under the leadership of veteran racers Ed Rensi, Gary Weisbaum, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. and Ronnie Russell, Rensi-Hamilton has tightened their belts in an effort to become a more economical choice for potential sponsors. In the past, team’s required $5-6 million for a full season effort. With a reconstruction of their financial model, the team is in position now to offer a new sponsor the opportunity to pair with five-time winner, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. for half that amount. Associate sponsors will see dramatic savings over last years with RHR as well.
You may ask, how can a team offer this? At Rensi-Hamilton Racing, many things have changed. The team will drive to most every race now, less hotel rooms will be required, lower cost hotels are being used, motor coaches have been eliminated, employees have agreed to take lower salaries, engine lease programs have been modified to find substantial savings and the team is looking into sharing a shop with another organization to reduce costs.
This is an organization willing to do whatever it takes to continue to operate and compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
“We have spent the last few months reviewing every expenditure for the last ten years in an effort to reduce our costs in today’s climate,” said Co-owner Gary Weisbaum. “We have an outstanding group of employees and everyone is dedicated to maintaining a united company and offering our potential sponsors the biggest bang possible for their money.”
Rensi-Hamilton Racing has already announced they will operate one car with Eric McClure and sponsor Hefty. With one more financial partner, the team can operate a second car and lower operating costs even more.
