Scott Wimmer NASCAR Nationwide Series Advance: Texas Motor Speedway

LOCKING IN – This is the fifth race of the season, and therefore the last race which utilizes the 2008 owner’s points to determine who does not need to qualify into future races on speed. Wimmer’s 22nd place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway catapulted the No. 40 up five spots to 29th in points, so a good finish this weekend is critical to securing their locked-in position.

STRIVE FOR FIVE – Driver Scott Wimmer has two top-10 and five top-15 finishes at Texas Motor Speedway, but has never broken into the top-5 in his six starts at the track. Wimmer scored his best TMS finish, 8th, in the spring of 2003.

DOUBLE DUTY – Since the release of Tommy Morgan as crew chief of the No. 40 StopRepairBills.com Impala SS, Camping World Truck Series crew chief Gary Showalter has been handling duties atop the pit box for the Key Motorsports Nationwide Series team in addition to the NCWTS entry. In his NNS debut, Showalter led the No. 40 Nationwide team to an 11th place finish in Las Vegas, and followed that up with a 22nd place finish at Bristol.

CHASSIS INFORMATION – Key Motorsports will be utilizing chassis #008 at this weekend’s race at Texas Motor Speedway. This chassis is Key Motorsports’ primary intermediate chassis. The #008 was most recently driven to an 11th place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in February.

Quotes and Facts:

ON TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY – “I think it makes for a great event and I’m looking forward to going back there. I ran there last year and we had a top-15. I think we’ve got a real good car…we’re taking the same car we had at Vegas and ran 11th there with it, so hopefully we’ll make it a little bit better and score that top-10. This is a big race for us because after this if we’re in the top-30 in points we’re locked-in and don’t have to rely on qualifying, so that will be a big load off of us if we can go out and have a good run.”
