Michael Annett to Use Truck Series Experience in His First Start at Texas Motor Speedway
Press ReleaseMotor Speedway and a one week break in the NASCAR Nationwide Series
schedule Michael Annett and the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers/HYPE Energy
Drinks team make their first visit of the season to Texas Motor Speedway
for the NASCAR Nationwide Series O’Reilly 300 this weekend.
The O’Reilly 300 will be Annett’s first start at Texas Motor Speedway,
however it won’t be the first time he’s driven the 1.5 mile track. In
2008, while sharing duties in the Camping World Truck Series with Scott
Speed, Annett qualified the No. 22 truck in June for the Sam’s Town 400.
“I look forward to returning to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for
the O’Reilly 300. Getting a feel for the track with Truck Series
practice and qualifying last year was great, but I’m ready to actually
compete at Texas with Germain Racing in the No. 15 Pilot Travel
Centers/HYPE Energy Drinks Toyota Camry.”
Annett’s Crew Chief Bruce Cook agreed saying, “Any track time at all
is good for a driver and Michael’s experience practicing and qualifying
at Texas in the No. 22 truck last June definitely gives him a feel for the
track. The speed in the entry of Texas Motor Speedway definitely suits
Michael’s driving style. He likes speed and Texas is a fast track. The
O’Reilly 300 is sure to let Michael show his talent.”
The team looks to use the momentum from the eight spot gain in driver
standings following the Scotts Turf Builder 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The O’Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway starts at 2:30 p.m. (ET) on
Saturday, April 4 and can be seen live on ESPN2. Annett will also
participate in an autograph session on the Speedway’s midway on Saturday
for one of his primary sponsors Pilot Travel Centers, scheduled for 9:30
a.m. 10:30 a.m. and again on Sunday from 10-11 a.m. (CT).
