Michael McDowell Has Solid Day In Nashville
Press Release“I am really proud of the Tom’s Snack Attack crew. We built a brand new racecar that has never been tested at the track, wind tunnel or shaker rig,” McDowell said. “To qualify and race in the top-ten all day is a testament to the strength of this team”.
McDowell qualified started third and ran in the top-ten throughout the race. After a yellow flag on lap 146 crew chief Gene Nead brought McDowell to pit road for tires and fuel when everyone else elected to stay out.
Restarting in the 22nd position, McDowell then gained a track position advantage when the field came down for final pit stops after a yellow flag on lap 184. Restarting in the lead, McDowell held off a hard charging field for seven laps on 40 lap old tires before slipping through the field to 15th place.“We had a great race for the lead with Kyle Busch,” McDowell said. “I knew my car needed clean air with old tires and I tried my best to hold him off”.
