“Wallace to drive No. 0 Chevrolet for Johnny Davis Motorsports”

CONCORD, NC (April 22, 2009) – After a successful outing the last time they teamed together, Mike Wallace and the Fishburne Military School of Waynesburg, Va. are going to take on Talladega Superspeedway in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

Wallace will once again drive the No. 0 Fishburne Military School Chevrolet for Johnny Davis Motorsports; their first outing was in the season opener at Daytona Superspeedway. Known for his prowess on the restrictor-plate tracks, Wallace is currently without a full-time ride and looks forward to getting back behind the wheel.

“First, I can’t thank the people at Fishburne Military School enough for wanting to do this again,” Wallace said. “When we talked about pairing up again, the logical choice for us was to do it at Talladega. I love plate racing and am looking to make a lot out of my second start this year.

“Not having a full-time deal like I was hoping to by now, I have to make the most out of these opportunities. Johnny Davis put together a good car for Daytona in February and I know they’ll do the same thing again for this weekend.

“For Daytona, the school set up large TVs in their quad area and the cadets got a kick out of watching their car compete. I’m looking forward to a good and exciting finish for them this weekend.”

Fishburne Military School is part of the Fishburne Educational Foundation and was founded in 1897. Located in Waynesboro, Va. (www.fishburne.org) the school is a preparatory school for boys grades 8 -12 and was the first school in Virginia accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is designated as a state historic landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is their second foray into NASCAR partnership with a team.

Wallace is a four-time winner in NASCAR Nationwide Series competition with 21 top-five and 61 top-10 finishes during his career. One of those victories came at Talladega’s sister track of Daytona in July 2004.

About racing Talladega: “Much like Daytona, you have to bide your time and calculate your every move during the race. Some guys choose to lay back and wait until the end to make their move, others like to race up front and be involved in the action the whole time. I’m the type that likes to be involved the whole time.

“I like the speeds and side-by-side racing that Talladega provides. At the same time, you have to be careful there because you can get caught up in other people’s mistakes and end your day early. I’m looking forward to being one of the guys that takes the checkered flag. It’s Talladega and I’m ready to race – bring it on.”

Any plans for rest of season: “I would love to get back into a full-time deal in Cup, Nationwide or the Trucks series. I know I still have the ability, skills and desire to compete for a win. I have talked to several teams in all series and it’s tough now because teams want you to bring money to the table. So, I’m talking to potential partners, as well.

“I’d like to get into the Sprint Showdown at Lowe’s (Motor Speedway) coming up in May. I’m eligible to make the race and it’s always a fun deal.”

Wallace at Dega: In 12 previous starts, he has achieved four top-10 finishes and led eight laps. Of his last six starts, four have produced top-12 finishes. His best start and finish was sixth, which occurred in 1995 driving for Barry Owen in the No. 90 Duron Paints Ford.
