Notes of Interest:

· Running up front: Lamar is one of only 15 drivers in the last four years to have led a Nationwide Series race at RIR (two laps; September, 2008).

· Chris Haymaker, mechanic and interior specialist for the No. 32 Dollar General team, a Virginia-native, grew up in Moneta, 150 miles west of Richmond. At age 14, Haymaker began working on Late Models at local Virginia tracks like Motor Mile and South Boston. He moved to North Carolina after graduating from Staunton River High School and attended Carolina Motorsports Tech in Hickory. After working for a number of teams, Haymaker joined Braun Racing in fall 2006.

· Richmond NNS Stats: Lamar has four previous starts at the 0.75-mile track. Lamar has a best starting position of 18th (September, 2006) and a best finishing spot of 27th (May, 2006).

· What’s up next? Brian Vickers returns to the wheel of the No. 32 Dollar General Toyota for the next three NNS races: Darlington Raceway, Lowe’s Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway.

Burney Lamar

“I am really looking forward to going to Richmond with Trent and the Dollar General team. This is a very unique short track and if you don’t have a good car right off of the truck, it makes for a long day. This team has been great with set-ups all year and I think we will unload the car very close to what we need it to be and we’ll have the opportunity to focus on tweaking it to make it perfect! We have everything it takes to be competitive, week in and week out, with this Dollar General Toyota. Richmond is a great race for the fans, too. There is no doubt it will be an exciting night under the lights on Friday.”

Burney on returning to racing after a two-year hiatus:

“The biggest challenge so far has been to just get used to racing again. It’s been two years since I have competed on a consistent schedule at this level and so much has changed. Every week I climb into the car with a list of things to work on and I am constantly checking things off and adding new things to that list. I keep raising the bar on the expectations I have on myself. This team provides consistently competitive cars and I truly believe that we are capable of top-five and top-10 finishes now. We had a top-10 car at Phoenix but a little bump from behind prevented that in the final laps.”

Equipment Information

The No. 32 Dollar General team will compete with chassis #BR021 in this weekend’s Lipton Tea 250. Chassis #21 was last seen Phoenix International Raceway where Lamar qualified 16th and finished 13th, his third top-15 finish of the 2009 season. #21 was previously seen at Gateway International Raceway (July, 2008) where James Buescher charged from 41st to a seventh-place finish.

Did You Know…?

Burney Lamar is an outdoors and fitness enthusiast. One of the things this driver does when he arrives at each hotel is to scope out the nearest gym for a workout. This past weekend Lamar took the workout to the great outdoors and enjoyed the beautiful Nashville weather and by logging over 15 miles on his two-wheeled speed machine – his mountain bike! This is the latest hobby for the 28-year-old and it seems to fit him quite well. Lamar is already planning to bring his bike to Charlotte for the Lowe’s race weekend and challenge some of his crew on their Friday day off.
