Welcome, N.C.: With Peyton Sellers behind the wheel of the #77 SFP Chevrolet, Milwaukee’s NorthernTool.com 250 will mark the fifth of ten planned races in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for Cardinal Motorsports. Although the former Whelen All American National Champion has never run the track before, it will feel like an old friend.

Sellers’ experience running short tracks across America has prepared him well for the legendary one mile long flat track. Dating back to 1903, the track is the longest continuously running motor speedway in the country.

“I’m looking forward to being on a short track again”, said Sellers. “Even though I’ve never run Milwaukee, I’m used to jumping onto this type of track and figuring it out pretty quickly.”

“We’ve done what we needed to off the track to get ready for this race”, said Cardinal Motorsports crew chief, HC Sellers. “As a new team, without any testing it’s been challenging to hit the setups and be as competitive as we’d like at the start of the race. It was good to have a couple of weeks to really do our homework. We have the right people behind us.”

Following the Milwaukee race, Sellers will remain in the Midwest and travel to Kansas City for the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. The week-long event showcases 5,400 career and technical education students competing in 91 different leadership and skilled trade disciplines. The event takes place in a space equivalent to 15 football fields. Sellers is a national spokesperson for the organization, which boasts 307,000 active members and more than 9 million alumni. Sellers will appear at the opening ceremony, which draws 14,000 conference attendees.

The annual event also includes TECHSPO, considered the largest trade show for technical education in the nation, where Sellers will be promoting sales of the #47 Jig-A-Loo/SkillsUSA replica car which was run in this year’s ARCA RE/MAX race at Daytona. A portion of the proceeds benefit SkillsUSA.

The Kansas City-metro area is also international headquarters for SFP, the team’s primary sponsor. SFP, a research and development company, has spent a decade solving some of agriculture’s long-standing fertilizer inefficiency challenges. Its two products – AVAIL®, a phosphorus fertilizer enhancer and NutriSphere-N®, a nitrogen fertilizer manager, help today’s growers maximize the efficiency of the fertilizer they apply. The company plans to host events in the Kansas City-area with Sellers during his week-long visit.

Cardinal Motorsports is also sponsored by Jig-A-Loo USA and Bosch, both of whom are supporters of SkillsUSA.
