Michael McDowell’s stock car career started three years ago at the site of this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series NorthernTool.com 250- The Milwaukee Mile.

“I’ll be honest. I had no idea what I was doing. I knew that I needed to go stock car racing and I knew the ARCA RE/MAX Series was the way to do it. However, I severely underestimated the competition and level of difficulty,” said McDowell.

Difficult as it appeared, McDowell qualified 15th for his first start. Running in the top-10, McDowell was caught up in a fiery crash that christened his stock car career. Returning a year later in 2007, McDowell qualified on pole and finished 4th.

“My second go-around at Milwaukee was a lot better than the first. A year of experience and confidence put us a lot closer to a win. Hopefully this weekend we can put the lock on a trophy,” said McDowell.

First Father’s Day: McDowell will be celebrating his first Father’s Day with son Trace and wife Jami.

“Milwaukee is another flat track that I get excited about. Anywhere I can utilize my braking techniques I feel like we have an advantage. We have run well at other short flat tracks like Richmond and Phoenix so my confidence is definitely up.”

The No. 47 ConstructionJobs.com JTG Daugherty Racing team will compete with chassis #52 in this weekend’s NorthernTool.com 250. This car finished 11th at Phoenix earlier in the 2009 season.
