Welcome, NC: As a rookie driver in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, few experiences will ever top that of running the first time at Bristol. Part apprehension and part excitement, it is one of those races that Peyton Sellers has dreamed of, and the half-mile track is known for creating nights to remember – for drivers and for fans.

Sellers and the #77 SFP Chevrolet will take to the storied track in Friday’s Food City 250, hoping to find a groove that will allow the Danville, VA native an opportunity to showcase his talents in front of a capacity crowd that will be heavy with hometown supporters.

“A lot of people from Danville come here to watch this race every year,” said Sellers. “This time, they’re coming to see us. We’re looking forward to giving them a good show.”

Like many from the grass-roots of the sport, racing has always been a family affair for Sellers. His brother, H. C., mans the crew chief position with Cardinal Motorsports. The rise to NASCAR’s top tier of a family team born from the short-tracks of America has garnered many fans this year.

The drama that has ensued since the track’s repaving in 2007 is finally beginning to subside, and Sellers is looking forward to the 30 degree banking and concrete surface.

“I’ve been on the track before in my late model car,” said the former Whelen All American National Champion. “I love the short tracks, but there’s really nothing that compares to Bristol. It’s got a personality all its own. It’s aggressive, all-out, intense heads-up racing. To a large degree, it’s the very heritage of the sport – the heart of it all.”

Bristol marks the team’s 9th of 11 planned races in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with primary sponsor SFP. Cardinal Motorsports is also sponsored by Jig-A-Loo USA and Bosch, who are both supporters of the team’s partner, SkillsUSA.
