- Bayne has run in 11 Nationwide Series races in the 2009 season, earning one pole and one top-10 finish (both at O’Reilly Raceway Park).
- The 2009 season marked Bayne’s debut in the Nationwide Series. In 2008 he drove full-time in the Camping World East Series, finishing fourth in the championship standings with one win, six top-5s, eight top-10s and two poles.
- The 18-year-old Knoxville, Tenn., native has been racing anything on wheels since age five, earning 22 championships in his career.
CJM Racing Quick Facts:
- RIDEMAKERZ will return as the primary sponsor of the No. 11 at Richmond. It is the first-ever car-customizing experience for kids ages 6 to 106. Pick one of 70 different car body types and paint schemes, using scale plastic-mold replicas of real-world cars that RIDEMAKERZ licenses from GM, Ford, BMW, and other car companies. Then trick out the ride by picking the wheels, hubcaps, a chassis, sounds, and other options such as radio control. Build YOUR Ride at RIDEMAKERZ.com.
- Last week, mechanical problems ended a strong run by CJM Racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After qualifying 32nd, driver Kelly Bires had advanced the No. 11 RIDEMAKERZ Toyota up to 12th place when a failed engine on a restart forced the team to retire early with a 32nd-place finish.
- The 2009 season marks the second season CJM Racing will compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series full-time. The team is currently 17th in the owner point standings.
- CJM Racing transitioned to Toyota Camry’s in 2009 and shares a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing. The partnership formed late last year allows the teams to share technical information as well as research and development.
- The team will bring chassis # 015 to Richmond. # 015 is the same chassis the team took to Gateway when the team was running fourth before being caught up in an accident.
- The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway will air LIVE on ESPN2 at 7 pm (ET) on Friday, Sept. 11th.
Driver Trevor Bayne on Racing the No. 11 RIDEMAKERZ Toyota:
“I’m pumped about getting to go racing this weekend. I thought I was going to have a month off, but this sort of all came together with the folks at CJM Racing. They are great guys, and I think Paul Wolfe puts together a fast car each weekend. It’s important for me to get seat time and I’m thankful for this opportunity. I’m ready to go racing with these guys. They have a cool car with RIDEMAKERZ and I think we can give them a good showing.”
Driver Trevor Bayne on Richmond:
“I’ve never raced at Richmond, but I’ve seen the race from the stands. I never made any laps around the track, but that’s been like most places I’ve been to this season. The only tracks I’ve been before were Bristol and Iowa, but I think we’ve picked it up pretty quick at all the new tracks. Our average starting position has been good and I’ve been able to adapt with no major problems. I like the one-day show because it’s what I’ve been used to coming up the ranks. We have plenty of time for practice and I feel good about it.”
