Kenny Wallace Makes Landmark Start in No. 28 Border Patrol Chevrolet at Richmond
Press ReleaseWallace’s record at the Richmond track is outstanding. He’s notched three of his nine Nationwide Series victories at the circuit, while scoring a total of 17 top-10 results in 29 races at the track. Wallace often says that he feels confident anytime he’s racing at the three-quarter mile track located just outside Richmond, Virginia.
“We have a lot of confidence going into the Richmond race with our U.S. Border Patrol Chevy,” Wallace said. “We know how to get our car working well there, so we’re excited to see how this weekend will go.”
It’s also fitting that Wallace will be making a landmark NASCAR start at one of his favorite tracks. Friday night’s race will mark Wallace’s 800th appearance in a NASCAR event. His resume includes 444 Nationwide Series events, over 300 appearances in the Sprint Cup Series, as well as a handful of starts in the NASCAR Truck Series.
After stringing together five top-20 results in the last seven races, Wallace has charged up the Nationwide Series drivers point standings. He’s currently twelfth in the standings, but a good run at Richmond would go a long way toward securing a top-10 in the driver points.
Racing at Richmond also gives Wallace and Team U.S. Border Patrol added incentive. The Border Patrol’s headquarters is just two hours away from the Richmond track, making Friday night’s race a hometown event of sorts for the Border Patrol.
Wallace and Team U.S. Border Patrol will take the green flag in Friday night’s Virginia College Savings 250 at 7 p.m. EDT, with live coverage on ESPN2.
