KANSAS CITY, Kan. (October 4, 2009) — Kevin Harvick and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Jimmy John’s Chevrolet scored a solid fourth-place finish at Kansas Speedway after starting the Kansas Lottery 300 from the 14th position.

“The Jimmy John’s Chevrolet was really good, but we just came up a little short,” said Harvick following the race. “Overall, it was another good, solid top-five day and the guys kept us up front and in contention the entire race.”

With the race underway, the first caution of the day waved on lap two with Harvick still in the 14th position. On a mission and looking toward the front of the field, Harvick made an impressive four-wide pass on the lap-five restart and moved into the 10th position on lap six. Continuing to pick cars off one-by-one, Harvick was scored in fifth place on lap 38.

Fighting a tight condition, Harvick slipped a few positions before making his first scheduled stop of the day under green-flag conditions. Pitting on lap 54 from the seventh spot, the team changed four tires with an air-pressure adjustment to help the handling and added fuel. Before the entire field could make their scheduled pit stops, the caution flag waved on lap 57. Able to remain on the lead lap, Harvick restarted the race in the 11th position on lap 64.

With the changes to the car not helping, Harvick quickly let crew chief Ernie Cope know the car would not turn and was too loose in traffic. Luckily, the caution flag waved again on lap 75, giving the team an opportunity to make adjustments. Bringing the No. 33 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet back down pit road from the 11th position, Harvick received four fresh tires with another air-pressure adjustment and fuel. With a solid pit stop, Harvick restarted the race on lap 81 in the 10th spot.

Happy with the adjustments and the handling of the car, Harvick began his move back to the front, taking over the fifth position on lap 101. Continuing to make adjustments to improve the handling of the car and solid stops on pit road, Harvick was able to remain in the top five and finish the Kansas Lottery 300 in the fourth position, claiming his sixth consecutive top-five finish.

Joey Logano scored his fourth Nationwide Series win of the year, followed by Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Harvick and Greg Biffle.
