Braun Racing Joins Sponsor Dollar General in Support of Sarah Fisher Racing and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Press ReleaseMOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 6, 2009) – Braun Racing announced today that their entire organization will “go pink” for the upcoming Dollar General 300 in support of Dollar General-sponsored, IndyCar Series driver Sarah Fisher, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Brian Vickers and Reed Sorenson will trade in their traditional black and yellow No. 32 and No. 10 Dollar General Toyotas for a special pink paint scheme in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on October 16. Braun Racing teammate, Jason Leffler, and his primary sponsor, Great Clips, will also support the cause with a specially designed pink No. 38 Camry.
Primary sponsor, Dollar General, and Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), are supporting the fight against breast cancer by going pink at the previous week’s IndyCar Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 10. Fisher will be racing in a pink Dollar General car as part of her “On Track for a Cause” initiative.
“Dollar General is proud to work with Braun Racing and join them in this initiative to raise awareness of breast cancer,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “By working together, we can bring more awareness to this disease and raise more funding to support the Komen organization and the search for a cure.”
Dollar General is making a $25,000 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The discount retailer has also partnered with IMS and MainGate Apparel to sell Sarah Fisher commemorative pink hats to raise funds for Komen for the Cure, the leader in the global breast cancer movement. The hats are only available online at www.dollargeneral.com from September 1 through October 31.
Terri Miller, Vice President of Marketing, Great Clips, Inc., echoed Dreiling’s sentiments and support of the cause.
“We are so proud of Braun Racing for taking the opportunity to “go pink” and focus on this cause that affects so many people around the world,” said Miller. “Having been diagnosed with breast cancer almost two years ago personally gave me a new perspective on the importance of awareness and all the ways we can fight this disease and find a cure for our daughters. Great Clips is very happy to be a part of this effort and look forward to seeing the pink No. 38 on the race track.”
NASCAR Nationwide Series action takes place under the lights at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Friday, October 16, 2009. The green flag for the Dollar General 300 is scheduled to drop at 8:00 p.m. EST.
