Joey Logano / Joe Gibbs Racing Texas Preview
Press ReleaseTexas Race Preview
Huntersville, N.C. – Fresh off of his appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw last week, Joey Logano heads to the Texas Motor Speedway ready to go toe-to-toe with the rest of the NASCAR Nationwide Series as the 2009 season begins its homestretch. And he will have plenty of support from WWE Superstars Jerry “The King” Lawler, R-Truth and WWE Divas Nikki and Brie Bella, who will be on-site as special guests of GameStop, Logano’s primary sponsor. The group will be there to encourage Logano’s effort to win his sixth race of the year and to promote the new WWE® SmackDown Vs. Raw 2010 video game that will be featured on Logano’s No. 20 Toyota as well as the No. 18 of Kyle Busch.
A win at Texas would have added meaning for Logano since GameStop’s headquarters sit just 17 miles from the Texas Motor Speedway. GameStop has been Logano’s Nationwide sponsor for a majority of the 39 races that he has competed in that series and together they have amassed six wins and seven poles. Putting the car in Victory Lane at Texas – the backyard of his sponsor – would be a great way to close out a strong year.
Joey Logano Quotes
“Racing in Texas always means a little more to me because GameStop’s headquarters is just down the road (in Grapevine, Texas) from the racetrack. We’ve had two great years and I couldn’t ask for a better sponsor. This year alone has been awesome with five wins — now we just need to keep that momentum going this weekend. Doug Hewitt is on board with us this week as crew chief so we should not miss a beat. Doug and I worked together at the end of last year, including this race. I have all the confidence in him to give me what I need to win. That’s what we are all here to do.”
“Kyle (Busch) and I are going to have a little fun this weekend in the WWE SmackDown Vs. Raw cars. I’m driving the SmackDown car and trust me, I don’t want to let those huge wrestlers down. We guest hosted Monday Night Raw last week so I know how serious those guys take their shows. Hopefully it will come down to the two of us at the end and we can put on a show for the fans and for our WWE guests who will be with us. I would have never imagined that I would work with WWE, but these last few weeks have been a blast.”
