Dustin Delaney To Participate In Oldest Telethon In The Nation
Press Release
The telethon, which began in 1960, is the oldest telethon in the nation and raises funds to support the varied services offered by the center. The Center for Disability Services (CDS) reaches out to more than 15,000 individuals -newborns to seniors – and their families at nearly 100 locations throughout 37 counties in Upstate New York.
“It’s an honor to be able to help them out when they help so many other people here in New York,” said Delaney. “Not only do they assist people with medical care and residential services, but they offer help in finding jobs for the disabled and so much more. It’s amazing what they do, and I’m happy to do my part.”
Delaney, who lives in nearby Mayfield, N.Y., campaigned for the Rookie-of-the-Year title in the NASCAR Camping World Series East against such notable drivers as Ricky Carmichael, Austin Dillon, and Trevor Bayne. The 19-year-old driver finished the season off 13th in the championship point standings, and fourth in the 2008 Rookie-of-the-Year competition. He will return for a full season in 2009. Delaney’s record also boasts an impressive 2007 CVRA Sportsman (dirt Modified) Division championship at Albany-Saratoga (N.Y.) Speedway and three starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
The telethon will be broadcast live on FOX 23 in Albany (Channel
from noon to 7 p.m. and will be hosted by Ann Hughes, John Gray, Rick Becker, Steve Teeling and the DayBreak team, with a special appearance from FOX Star Spike Feresten. Delaney will sign autographs from noon to three before assisting on the phone lines during the broadcast.
