Voices of SPEED – March 30th – April 5th
Press ReleaseSPEED on-air personalities and motor sports journalists regularly contribute to the SPEEDtv.com front-page feature “Voices of SPEED.” Below is a sampling of quotes from this week’s columns:
“It was terrific stuff, exactly what should happen in a good short-track race — and what wasn’t seen at Bristol a week earlier. Afterwards, (Denny) Hamlin was frustrated, but he admitted he would have done exactly the same thing had the roles been reversed. It was good, hard, old-fashioned bare-knuckle short-track racing. And it was fun to watch.”
- Tom Jensen, SPEEDtv.com, on the Martinsville NASCAR Cup race
“I have to admit I like the way NASCAR does it. A champion should get credit for taking care of business week in and week out and not just be a one-hit-wonder, so to speak. However, I do think the F1 idea would make the NASCAR world look a little more like the PGA tour. Tiger, Phil, Sergio, and Vijay don’t tee it up every week. Tiger, who has more tournament championships and wins than the other three, plays in fewer tournaments than any of them. However, each one of these guys is in the hunt for the tour title every season.”
- Adam Alexander, SPEEDtv.com, on NASCAR points system
“Those lucky enough to already be inside were part of an estimated crowd of 55,000 people (no joke) — the largest I’ve ever seen at any drag race any where — having a great time. To me, this was how it should be. Everyone had broad smiles on their faces and they were enjoying great side-by-side action. The mood in the pits, from the racers to the crew personnel to the spectators was very upbeat and positive. One t-shirt vendor told me that ADRL officials had been by five times that day just to make sure he was happy. He was blown away.”
- Rob Geiger, SPEEDtv.com, on ADRL drag racing
“I have no proof of this, but I think (Allan) McNish might be the leading cause of depression in France. Surely Peugeot’s sportscar drivers pop Prozac like they’re Altoids.”
- Marshall Pruett, naming racing’s “All Demoralizing Team” on SPEEDtv.com
