Hard Luck for Chris Wimmer at Madison International Speedway
Press ReleaseWausau, WI, May 3rd 2009 ‐ The ASA Midwest Tour season didn’t begin quite the way Chris Wimmer hoped. After practicing well all day and a 4th fastest qualifying lap, Wimmer was caught up in a wreck just two laps in to the Joe Shear Classic 136. “It’s just really disappointing,” says Wimmer, “The car had been good all day and I was really looking forward to racing. It’s just a really bad deal when something like that happens so early in the race.”
With the invert, Wimmer began the race from the 7th starting position. On lap two, a few cars ahead of him got together, stacking up Wimmer’s #52 and three other quality cars. “I didn’t see the whole thing,” says Wimmer, “But I think some guys in front were just pushing the envelope a little too much too early in the race. I thought we would have had a good car during the race, now we’ll just fix it up and get ready for the next one.”
That next race for Wimmer and the ASAMT comes May 16th at Iowa Speedway, where the #52 picked up a top‐five finish last year. “Iowa is a really neat track, says Wimmer, “I had a pretty good car last year and I’m excited to g0 back.”
Wimmer Racing continues to search for primary sponsorship for this year, but would like to thank our associate sponsors. FlipSide Graphics returns to the #52 car this year as an associate sponsor. They have always supported the Wimmer Racing program and it is greatly appreciate. Hallman‐Lindsay, Swift Spring, R2C Performance Products, 51sports, AutoMeter, OPTIMA Battery, Vanderkoy Bro’s Drywall, Joe Kleiber Construction, Pergolski Elecrtic , and Wimmer Suspension have also all jumped on board to help in a sponsorship role. Without their support it would be difficult to make it to the track every weekend.
