Indianapolis Motor Speedway Productions assisting with NBA Finals high-def coverage in L.A.
Press ReleaseINDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, June 3, 2009 – Indianapolis Motor Speedway Productions’ brand-new, state-of-the-art high-definition mobile production truck will play a major role in telling the story of the upcoming NBA Finals, set to begin Thursday, June 4 in Los Angeles.
IMS Productions engineers Jason King and Paul Nijak will accompany the truck to the Staples Center in Los Angeles and assist in producing the studio shows for NBA Entertainment that take place before, during and after the NBA Finals games in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Lakers are playing the Orlando Magic in the best-of-seven series.
“We are proud to provide state-of-the-art HD mobile production facilities to the NBA for its championship series,” said Charlie Morgan, IMS Productions president and chief executive officer. “While people know us for our racing expertise, we are thrilled to provide our facilities and professional staff for all types of sports and entertainment productions nationwide.”
The all-digital truck, named “IMS-HD2,” has already provided the platform for several major automotive-related broadcasts. The NBA Finals will see its first use by an IMS Productions customer outside the automotive arena.
IMS Productions used HD2 to produce the Dana Mecum’s Original Spring Classic Auction May 13-17 for Discovery Communications HD Theatre channel. HD2 also was used to produce the Indianapolis 500 world television feed and the Indianapolis 500 Victory Celebration broadcast last month. IMS Productions will produce four more Mecum auctions for HD Theatre this year.
IMS Productions’ HD1 truck has been in operation for several years, producing high-definition programming for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and other sports and non-sports related clients. For more information on IMS Productions, visit
