Jonathan Smith Sees Adirondack As A Momentum Builder

North Haverhill, N.H. (July 28, 2009): Jonathan Smith and Mike Olsen both get that same glimmer in their eyes when speaking of Adirondack International Speedway. Fadden Racing, fresh off a top-10 at Thompson a few weeks ago, is looking at the track as a momentum builder for the last four races of the season. The hope is to leave New York State with their first top-five finish of the season.

Smith, driver of Fadden’s No. 16 Chevrolet, has made two previous starts at Adirondack. The uniqueness of the track takes some adjusting to, but Smith feels confident in his ability to get around the 9/10th’s mile oval.

“I really didn’t like the track the first time I was on it, but I talked with Bryon Chew last year and his pointers really helped me out a lot. It’s a tough place to get around, but I really like it now. It’s one of our most challenging tracks and I’m ready to tackle it. I think we have a shot at getting our first top-five if we can stay out of trouble.”

Smith is entering the Edge Hotel 150 13th in the point standings with two top-10 finishes in seven starts. Olsen, owner of Fadden Racing, raves about Smith’s progress thusfar this year, and believes their chances of a solid run at Adirondack are good.

“Jonathan gets better week after week,” said Olsen. “We’re peaking at the right time, and we’re coming off a good run at Thompson. He has the confidence and the ability to get the job done when we go there this week.”

Smith made his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Series East at Elko Speedway in Minnesota back in 2007. He first drove for veteran car owner Barney McRae before heading to Troy Williams Motorsports for the 2008 season. He signed with Fadden Racing for the 2009 season, his third year as a Drive For Diversity driver.

Smith’s career best finish came at Iowa Speedway in 2007 when he posted a fifth place finish. He has a total of 32 career starts with one top-five and three top-10 finishes.

“We’ve had good cars this year and good runs, but we have needed a little bit of luck,” said Smith. “Everything is starting to fall into place for us, and I look at this weekend’s race as a chance to build on the two top-10’s that we’ve gotten already this year.”

The Edge Hotel 150 takes place at Adirondack International Speedway in Lowville, N.Y. on Saturday, August 1st. For more information on Jonathan Smith or Fadden Racing, visit www.faddenracing.net
