Mattioli Cousin’s set to make International Debut on August 16th, Trois-Rivieres KONI Grand Am
Press ReleaseLong Pond, PA (August 10, 2009): After a strong showing in the August 1st, ARCA RE/MAX Pennsylvania 200, future star Chase Mattioli is paced for his return to road racing, as he and his cousin, Nick Igdalsky, make their international debut next Sunday while co-piloting their #47 Pocono Raceway JBS KONI Mustang in the August 16th, Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres, in Trois-Rivieres, Québec.
The boys placed 16th in round 9 of the KONI Grand Am challenge at Barber Motor Sports Park, on July 19th, after Nick Igdalsky was forced to make two unscheduled pit stops early on in the race due to a stud coming lose on the rear driver side tire.
“It was just one of those freak racing deals when a $5 part that never breaks, breaks!” commented Igdalsky. “It was disappointing. We practiced the car consistently in the top 10 during practice and, even after getting the wheel tight again, we were running times equivalent to the top 5 cars,” Igdalsky concluded.
Even after the set back at Barber Motorsports the boys remain optimistic about their future saying that, “Every race we come out and run better than the previous race. We just need to be patient, work hard and keep running like we are and solid finishes will come.”
In regards to making their international debut, Chase commented that “racing is unique because it is one of the few sports that can transcend barriers”. “I look forward to having the opportunity to race internationally, especially in a country like Canada which has such a rich racing history with drivers such as Paul Tracy, and Jacques and Gilles Villeneuve,” Chase concluded.
Following the race at Trois-Rivieres, the season will continue to heat up with Chase competing in four races over a four-week period, including ARCA RE/MAX races at Chicagoland, IL (August 29th), Toledo, OH (September 4th), Millville, NJ (September 13th), and a KONI Grand AM challenge on September 18th at Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, UT.
