Return to Nashville for Drew Brannon
Press Release

After competing at one of the oldest tracks on the ASA Late Model Challenge Series just two weeks ago, the series returns to the music city for the second half of the Nashville double. This time, the series will make it’s inaugural visit to the modern mile and a third Nashville Superspeedway, one of the newest tracks the series will visit this year.

Brannon would like to put the recent visit to the Nashville Fairgrounds behind; where a driveshaft problem put the team behind pit wall for repairs resulting in an eighteenth place finish. “We’ve already put that last race behind us and are concentrating on this week at the Speedway,” he said.

The SS Green Light team will be bringing a new Port City chassis to the event. Crew Chief Butch Miller and the SS Green Light team have been working hard on the new car over the last several weeks, making sure it is ready for the journey to the high-speed mile and one-third concrete speedway. “We have to put extra bracing in the body and the windows to hold up to the high speeds and the air pressure created on these larger tracks.”

“Butch, Troy and everyone at the SS Green Light shop have worked hard and spent some long hours just to get this car ready. I have full confidence in everything they do and I know that when we get to the track the car will be fast and we will fine tune it from there.

Drew recently tested one of SS Green Light Racing’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chevy Silverados at Caraway Speedway. Miller was impressed with how well Drew adapted to the heavier truck during the test. “Every time I watch Drew in a racecar I am impressed. He listen’s so well and takes our suggestions very seriously. I asked him to change his entry into the corner and he did just what I asked him, he ran quicker laps right after the adjustment. Drew is mature beyond his years and I’m looking forward to helping his development continue.”

Brannon is currently third in the ASA Late Model Series Challenge point standings, trailing Brian Campbell and Josh Hamner. “I’m focused on getting strong finishes and trying to catch Josh and Brian in the points. We need to finish in front of them and chip away at the points lead. I’m really thinking about the big picture.”

The ASA Late Model Challenge Series Music City 100 takes place on Saturday, August 15th. The 100-lap race beginning at 4:00 pm. Qualifying will be at 2:00. Practice for the ASA Challenge Series competitors is at 10:00 am along with two practice sessions on Friday August 14th.
