GRIFFIN, GA (September 22, 2009) – Max Gresham will make his first two Super Late Model starts of the season this weekend when he competes at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL Friday and Mobile (AL) International Speedway Saturday.

The two high-speed events will be yet another challenge for the 16-year-old Gresham, who closed out a successful run as part of the Joe Gibbs Racing Driver Development Program last weekend with a solid ninth-place finish in the Heluva Good! Fall 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“There’s probably going to be a lot more riding time racing a Super Late Model compared to my Pro Late Model or NASCAR Camping World East stock car,” said Gresham, who has two Pro Late Model wins to his credit this season. “The Super Late Model cars will just burn the tires off if you aren’t careful, so I am going to have to make sure I take care of them so we have something left to race with at the end at Pensacola and Mobile this weekend.”

Friday’s 100-lap Blizzard Series event at Pensacola will be the second time Gresham has competed at the tricky Five Flags half-mile oval this season. Earlier this year, the driver of the No. 7-11 Gresham Motorsports entry led a good portion of an American Speed Association Pro Late Model event before eventually finishing 10th.

“I burned the tires off the car by about Lap 75,” stated Gresham after the event. “From there, I was just holding on trying to get the best finish I could. We still got the good finish – a Top-10 – that we were looking for, but it could have been a lot more.”

A trip to Mobile and another ASA Pro Late Model clash on March 28 proved to be much more successful as the 11th-grade student at Woodward Academy in College Park, GA won the Ride-On Tire Protection System 100.

“To win at Mobile was phenomenal,” Gresham commented. “I was so happy for my race team. They have put so much time into getting this right. It was awesome to win. We kept saying all week long that we were going to win. We knew we could do it. It was great that we could go out and prove it.”

While Gresham is excited to return to the both Mobile and Pensacola, he knows a whole new set of challenges await him and his Gene Roberts led Gresham Motorsports team this weekend.

“I know this it is going to be a lot different running a Super Late Model car at both of these places, but I’m confident my Gresham Motorsports guys are going to give me another great car and a chance to win again,” Gresham stated. “I can’t wait to get in another different kind of car this weekend and see what we can do. I’m looking forward to Pensacola because it will give us an opportunity to prepare for the Snowball Derby there later this year and you always want to go back to a track like Mobile – a place where you have won before. It’s going to be a very exciting weekend for me and my Gresham Motorsports team.”

Friday’s event at Pensacola – Round 5 of the Blizzard Series Championship – and Saturday’s Miller Lite 100 at Mobile will each roll off at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
