CORAL GABLES, FL Oct 06, 2009: Sarah Fisher, of Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), announced today that she will be giving away tickets to the Oct.10 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) to 100 Floridians. The giveaway is courtesy of primary sponsor, Dollar General, and will take place at T.G.I. Fridays’ Coral Gables location (1200 S. Dixie Hwy) Wed., Oct 7. Fisher will be available for autographs and pictures from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. under the striped awnings at Friday’s.

This event is part of a multi-faceted initiative by Fisher, in conjunction with Dollar General and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

“I’ll be bringing my 2-seater IndyCar Series racecar with me to Friday’s tomorrow,” said Fisher, “so that anyone who makes a donation to Komen can go for a ride with me and get tickets to watch me race on Saturday!”

Fans who receive tickets to the race on Saturday will get to see Fisher’s new, pink car speeding round the track at HMS. Fisher has “gone pink” for the season finale race in Miami and will be not only showcasing her new car, but also a fresh pink firesuit to match. Her ensemble would not be complete without a new helmet, which was designed by Fisher’s fans. The four-time voted “Most Popular Driver” held a contest in September for fans to submit designs for a pink helmet to match her pink theme. The artist who won turned out to not only have a lot of talent, but also a connection to breast cancer as well.

“Sadly, breast cancer touches everyone,” said Fisher, who announced AutoTex PINK as a new sponsor last week and that they would give consumers 20 percent off a wiper blade purchase made during October at the companies website, www.autotexpink.com. “In starting this initiative with Komen, we have really heard some amazing stories from survivors and their family members and everyone involved in this project has really put their whole heart into it. If there really is strength in numbers, we are going to affect a huge blow in the battle against breast cancer.”

While Dollar General is rallying the local fans in this ticket giveaway, they are also allowing fans in locations all over the world to participate. They have created a commemorative hat that is being sold on their website at www.dollargeneral.com, which fans can purchase to contribute to raising money for Komen. Purchasers of the limited edition hat will also receive a special pink hero card, autographed by Fisher, at no additional cost.

Fisher’s pink race gear will also be available for fans to purchase in an online auction that will be held on eBay’s philanthropic website, Mission Fish, following the race. Fans will be able to bid on everything from her helmet to crew shirts, with all of the proceeds benefitting breast cancer research. Fans can bid on items beginning today through Monday, Oct. 12, 2009. http://shop.ebay.com/sarahfisherracing67/m.html? _nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=

Following Fisher’s ticket giveaway, she will walk the “pink” carpet on the evening of Thur. Oct 8 at LIV Nightclub along with New Kids on the Block’s Danny Wood in raising funding for breast cancer research. Consumers can purchase tickets to the public event at http://www.wantickets.com/EventDetail.aspx?e_id=75500

The driver will then return to HMS on Fri., Oct 9 for practice and qualifications and the race the following day to get “On Track for a Cause” and try to top her best finish at Miami of second place. This will mark Fisher’s 76th career start with the IndyCar Series and will be shown live on VERSUS under the lights at HMS at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
