2009 TUMS Fast Relief 500 NSCS Starting Lineup

“The Rocket,” Ryan Newman, rocketed to his 45th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career pole at Martinsville Speedway, when he ran a qualifying lap speed of 96.795 mph, for Sunday’s TUMS Fast Relief 500.

This was Newman’s 2nd series pole of the 2009 season, and his 3rd series pole at Martinsville Speedway.

Sharing the front row with Newman, and with a lap speed of 96.519 mph, will be Jeff Gordon, while Martin Truex, Jr. (96.509) will start third, Mark Martin (96.504) fourth, David Reutimann (96.117) fifth, Casey Mears (96.054) sixth, Joey Logano (96.034) seventh, Bobby Labonte (96.010) eighth, Reed Sorenson (95.995) ninth, and Kevin Harvick (95.908) will round out the top-10 starting positions.

The #73, driven by Josh Wise, was the only car that failed to make the race.

The teams will have two more chances (practice sessions) on Saturday to tweak, complete overhaul or whatever it takes in preparation for the drop of the The TUMS Fast Relief 500 green flag, which is scheduled for 1:30 PM (EST) on Sunday.
