‘Backstretch Buster’ Seats Moving Fast; Burnout Alley Project Moving Along On Schedule
Press ReleaseFORT WORTH, Texas (January 22, 2009) – Texas Motor Speedway announced a dramatic price break in November with its “Backstretch Buster” tickets during these challenging economic times, and fans have responded by already purchasing more than half of the available backstretch seating for April’s Samsung 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Texas Motor Speedway has sold more than half the capacity of the 9,378-seat backstretch as fans have taken advantage of the three price points made available for the Samsung 500 on Sunday, April 5.
The first two rows of the backstretch were reduced to $20 – the most inexpensive seat for a Sprint Cup race in the history of the facility – and more than half of those 1,090 seats have been sold. It also is the second least expensive ticket at any speedway for a Sprint Cup Series race this season.
Texas Motor Speedway also has been successful with the additional 10 rows of the backstretch. Half of those 8,288 seats have been sold at the reduced price of $40 or as part of the “7-Eleven Family 4-Pack,” which consists of four tickets, hot dogs and Coca-Colas for $159. For last season’s Samsung 500, backstretch tickets ranged between $42 and $78. Texas Motor Speedway was the first track to announce reduced ticket prices to assist economically strapped fans and many of the other speedways on the NASCAR circuit have followed suit.
“We didn’t want the tough economic times to force our fans to miss out and start losing touch with the sport they love, and we are pleased to see they are taking advantage of the reduced ticket pricing,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “I expect the interest to pick up even more in the coming weeks as fans are finished paying off their holiday bills and getting excited with the start of the season less than a month away.”
Construction of Burnout Alley, which will feature 67 expansive motor home spaces above the backstretch seating, continues to remain on target for a mid-March completion date. Piping for water and electrical utilities has been laid in place and the framing of the 67 private courtyards will begin today. New asphalt for each site pad is expected to be laid by the first week of February.
More than one-third of the available spaces in Burnout Alley have been sold. Each 30×60 foot Burnout Alley courtyard sells for $15,000 for the entire race season and includes full service hook-ups for water, electric and live race feeds; concierge service that will include grocery shopping; catering options; free wireless internet and 24-hour restroom access. The ticket package for each race week will consist of 10 VIP passes for Burnout Alley; 10 pre-race passes for each NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race; 10 pit/infield passes; two access passes for The Speedway Club; 10 souvenir event programs; and three reserved parking spaces nearby.
