SCOTT SPEED, No. 82 RED BULL TOYOTA:

“Well, we’re on car number three now and car number three is good in the corners. I can kind of go wherever I want. That was definitely a new thing but we’re having a hell of a time sucking up to people. It doesn’t have very much speed. Prediction, I think we’re going to be able to do maybe a little bit of stuff to make it a little bit better and if it gets really hot and greasy out there I think it’ll play into our favor tomorrow.” DID YOU NOTICE THIS PRACTICE WAS MORE INTENSE THAN OTHERS THIS WEEK?

“No, honestly I thought it was easier. I wasn’t really out there with a huge group. Actually it’s seems easier because I get more used to it and what used to seem crazy seems now more usual so maybe that’s what it is. Honestly though I feel pretty comfortable.” BEING PATIENT AND STAYING OUT OF TROUBLE WILL BE THE BIGGEST THING FOR YOU IN THE 500.

“Well, it hasn’t worked out so far. I’ve tried so hard to stay out of trouble and it finds me anyway [smiles]. I’ve talked to a lot of guys and I mean honestly we’re going to do what we’re going to do. If we’re going to wreck it wasn’t meant to be. I’m not going to do anything stupid but I don’t think we’re going to necessarily try to make sure that we stay out of something.” HOW MANY 500-MILE RACES HAVE YOU RUN?

“Now you’re scaring me. But this 500 miles go by a lot quicker because you’re going 180 miles per hour the whole time. Definitely there’s a difference for the Cup races for how long they go but I mean, the fact that we’ve got five of them out of the way I know a lot more of what to expect, for sure. I’m going to bring a snack with me in the car.”
