Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s Fund-Racing Program Offers Non-Profit Groups a New Form of Fundraising
Press Release
Advertisment

CONCORD, N.C. (Feb. 24, 2009) – Lowe’s Motor Speedway officials have
launched a new program, Fund-Racing, that will generate money for non-profit
organizations that partner with the speedway to sell tickets to race events.

Non-profit groups can earn from $4 to $14 per ticket sold to a
variety of race events, including the North Carolina Education Lottery 200,
NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, Windstream Pole Night, CARQUEST Auto Parts 300,
Bojangles’ Pole Night, Dollar General 300, Bank of America 500 and the
Summer Shootout Series.

Through the program, participating non-profit groups are provided
with an offer code for a special page on the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Web site.
Every ticket sold through the Web site with their specific code will
generate money for the organization. Additionally, order forms are available
for one-on-one sales.

“We see the Fund-Racing program as a great way to expand our
relationships with charities and community service organizations,” said
Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
“Instead of selling food or wrapping paper, groups can sell the chance for
families, friends and co-workers to make unforgettable memories at a NASCAR
race while still raising money for project work in the community.”

Several local organizations have already signed up to participate,
including Abilities Unlimited of the Carolinas, Hendrick Marrow Foundation,
Independence High School Band Boosters, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Motor
Racing Outreach.

Abilities Unlimited of the Carolinas assists those with physical
disabilities through adaptive activities, primarily programs for youth that
compete on both the regional and national level in wheelchair basketball,
wheelchair track and field, and swimming. Money raised through the
Fund-Racing program will help cover the cost of equipment and travel
expenses to the teams’ regional and national competitions.

“We’ve got 45 in the program overall, including 18 kids from the
Charlotte area that participate in the basketball program,” said Mike
Godsey, a founding director of Abilities Unlimited of the Carolinas and
assistant coach of the group’s Junior Charlotte Rollin’ Bobcats wheelchair
basketball team. “We raise funds for equipment that insurance companies
don’t cover to help improve the lives of those who are physically disabled.

“We’re a grassroots organization that’s made up of all volunteers,
and it’s great to see Lowe’s Motor Speedway doing a grassroots effort like
this where groups get rewarded for their performance. It shows the
speedway’s fans that in light of the tough economic times, they’re willing
to step up, try something different and help out community organizations.”

The Fund-Racing program is a year-round fundraising opportunity. No
contract, commitment or minimums are required for an organization to
participate.
For more information about Fund-Racing, or to register for the
program, non-profit groups should call (704) 455-3294 or e-mail
fundracing@lowesmotorspeedway.com.
