Items to include trophies, awards and uniforms from storied career

CORNELIUS, NC (May 12, 2009) – Geoff Bodine has certainly collected his fair share of hardware, awards and memories through his race-winning career.

Now, Bodine wants to share those with fans and memorabilia seekers through a one-week sale that will culminate with a live auction on Friday, May 22 at his race shop. The sale will run from Monday, May 18 to Friday, May 22 with some key items held for the auction on the evening of the final day.

Included in the items are his 1986 Daytona 500 trophy, ring and a Rolex watch from when he won a Twin 125 at Daytona International Speedway. Checkered flags from his Sprint Cup and Modified career, race uniforms, photos, plaques and even a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle are also going to be up for sale.

Fans are invited to stop by the shop located at 18605 Northline Dr in Cornelius, NC 28031. Hours from the sale are Monday through Friday beginning at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. On Friday, May 22, the featured auction items will begin at 7 p.m.

Also included are four clocks from Martinsville Speedway victories such as; his first Late Model win there, his first Modified and first Sprint Cup victory. And, for someone looking for something really unique, Bodine is even selling off the large granite stone that sat outside his Geoff Bodine Racing No. 7 shop near Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

“I was looking at all of these boxes loaded with so much racing memorabilia from my career,” Bodine said. “I figured it would be better off in fan’s hands than sitting in this shop. So, we figured a sale and auction during Race Week here in Charlotte would be the perfect time to hold one.

“My son’s business is expanding and we needed the room. Besides, it will be nice to see fans leave here with smiles on their faces. This should be fun; especially some of the items we’re putting up for auction on Friday.”
