Fans Can Walk Together With NASCAR Stars During Popular Fundraising Event

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 28, 2009) – While much slower than the roaring speed of a NASCAR stock car, walking on the one-mile, high-banked Dover International Speedway can be a thrill of a lifetime for any race fan. Add several NASCAR drivers and personalities to the mix, with all proceeds benefiting The NASCAR Foundation and its Family of Charities, and this opportunity becomes a “can’t miss” for any fan at the Monster Mile on Saturday, May 30 following the Heluva Good! 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race (ABC, 2 p.m. ET).

The NASCAR Foundation Track Walk Presented by Hock Foods returns to Dover this Saturday with a star-studded list of participants. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, David Ragan and three-time NASCAR champion and current NASCAR on FOX personality Darrell Waltrip will all participate on behalf of Motor Racing Outreach. NASCAR Sprint Cup Sries drivers AJ Allmendinger and Reed Sorenson will join the legendary driver Richard Petty to represent the Petty Family Foundation. Greg Biffle will participate on behalf of the Greg Biffle Foundation, while FOX Sports and SPEED broadcaster Krista Voda will represent Autism Delaware.

In a friendly battle of who can raise more money, the husband and wife duo of Ryan and Krissie Newman will each walk this year for the Ryan Newman Foundation. Ryan will represent the Racing for Wildlife program, while Krissie has sided with the Humane Alliance’s National Spay/Neuter Response Team.

Fans can walk together with a selected driver, personality or charity on Saturday, May 30. Fans can visit The NASCAR Foundation hauler in the FanZone display area outside of Turn 4 to register on Friday, May 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday, May 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost to register at the track is $35 and children 14 and under may walk for free with a registered adult.

A pre-walk kick-off will be held at approximately 6 p.m. at the SPEED Stage in the FanZone.
