CONTEST: David vs. Goliath NASCAR Style
Press ReleaseAtlanta Motor Speedway is teaming with Six Flags Over Georgia to announce the “David vs. Goliath” promotion that will allow race fans to help NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star and Georgia native David Ragan slay Goliath, Six Flags Over Georgia’s newest attraction.
Six Flags Over Georgia and Atlanta Motor Speedway are partnering to promote the Labor Day Classic 500, Atlanta Motor Speedway’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race. The “David vs. Goliath” promotion will award 35 fans the opportunity to ride Six Flags Over Georgia’s Goliath roller coaster with NASCAR driver Ragan. Each winner and one guest will receive a regular daily admission to Six Flags Over Georgia ($39.99 value each) and partake in a private “Meet n’ Greet” with the NASCAR star.
“I remember going to Six Flags [Over Georgia] as a kid so it will be neat to get a chance to go back there and ride the new coaster Goliath,” said Ragan, an Unadilla native. “I’m sure things have changed a lot and I’m excited to check out the new ride.”
In the Biblical book of Samuel, David is the only Israelite willing to face Goliath. Come July 16, our David will have an army of supporters eager to face Six Flags’ Goliath with their NASCAR hero.
“The Atlanta race is a big weekend for me since I consider that my hometown track, as well as my sponsor UPS’s,” added Ragan, “so getting geared up for the Labor Day weekend race at Atlanta at Six Flags [Over Georgia] will be fun, especially with some excited fans riding Goliath with me.”
In addition to the festivities at Six Flags Over Georgia’s Goliath coaster, Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Events staff will be on site to promote the Labor Day Classic 500 with opportunities to win free tickets to Atlanta’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race.
Six Flags Over Georgia’s Goliath has quickly become one of the park’s most popular attractions, reaching heights of 200 feet, a top speed of 70 mph and featuring heart-pounding drops of 175 and 170 feet. The hypercoaster spans 8.5 acres, includes a 540-degree spiral and was ranked a top-ten coaster in the world by Amusement Today in 2008.
