LapLeader- WIX Filters

· Juan Pablo Montoya led three times for 116 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s Allstate 400 at The Brickyard. Montoya grabbed the honors for the first time this season.

· DID YOU KNOW? Only two other drivers have led more laps than Montoya did today in 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Indy:

1999: Dale Jarrett, 117 laps

2004: Jeff Gordon, 124 laps

· This is the first time in 93 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races that Montoya has led the most laps. In 62 superspeedway races Montoya has now led eight times for 138 laps. He has led seven times in five races this season for a total of 133 laps.

· Montoya logged a 11th-place finish in today’s race.

· UNOFFICIALLY Montoya is 10th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship standings, 10 points behind ninth-place Mark Martin and 16 ahead of 11th-place Greg Biffle.

· Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart are tied for the lead (5-5) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.

· BRIAN PATTIE, CREW CHIEF, No. 42 TARGET DODGE: “Anyone who had a scanner knows how he feels.” HAVE YOU SPOKEN WITH NASCAR ABOUT THE SPEEDING PENALTY? “No not yet. I will later on today. I’ll call [John] Darby maybe tonight and maybe we’ll go to dinner or something but he’ll show me the sheet as he always does. If you ever get caught speeding they’ll show you the sheets.” JUAN SAID DURING THE RACE THAT NASCAR APOLOGIZED TO YOU GUYS EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR A SPEEDING PENALTY. “That was Phoenix and it was a little bit weird because the 83 and us had the same lap, the same mile per hour at the same segment so we just kind of questioned that. But it is what it is. I mean it’s over. We got 24th at Phoenix and we got 11th here.” HAVE YOU EVER SEEN AN YTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE WHERE YOU’VE GOT A GUY WHO IS AHEAD BY FIVE SECONDS AT LEAST AND SUDDENLY HE’S NOT. “I really can’t say I have. I mean, I don’t even know what to say guys. I mean it’s the Brickyard, you lead the most laps, obviously had the dominant car and you finish 11th with it so it kind of sucks.” JUAN SAID HE HAD THREE GREEN LIGHTS ON. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THAT MEANS? “Aw that’s just our tach that we use which is plenty good.” WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT IS NASCAR TELLING YOU? “When you speed you get a pass through under green, tail end of the longest line under caution. It’s pretty self explanatory.”
