This Week if Ford Racing Heading into Atlanta with NSCS Drivers Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth
Press Release
CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion –
SINCE YOU’VE RUN SO WELL AT ATLANTA, WOULD YOU PREFER THAT RACE BE BEFORE OR AFTER THE START OF THE CHASE? AND WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF IT BEING A NIGHT RACE NOW ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND? HOW DO YOU CHANGE YOUR STRATEGY FOR THAT EVENT? “California, I feel just as comfortable there as Atlanta, so it really doesn’t matter as far as the Chase. I think it will be fun to the night race there – that’ll be a fun weekend to run. Atlanta’s fun. I like it a lot. It has similar meaning as [Michigan], just because my first win was there in Nationwide and Cup. Darlington was my favorite race track to drive, and they re-paved it and now it’s a little less racy, a little less dynamic, but Atlanta still has the bumps, the tires go away, and the pavement is slick. It’s probably the most fun oval we race on, so I like it for that fact, too.”WILL THAT CHANGE THE DYNAMIC OF THE NATIONWIDE RACE, AND POINTS RACE? “I guess it wouldn’t matter overall because we’re just moving the schedule around, but I’m fast there and Kyle’s fast there, too, so it’s wild. When you think about all of the races and all that can happen, it gives me a lot of hope in the Nationwide Series because much can change, so many things can happen. There’s a lot of laps left to run in the season, and, if we ran them all at places like Atlanta, I’d feel really good. That’s one of my best places. So, it’ll be good.”
MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE ATLANTA RACE BEING LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND OUT OF THE CHASE? “It doesn’t matter. Atlanta’s a good track for us; California has always been a really good track for us, too. I hope that Atlanta can get some good weather – it’ll help their attendance and help make the track more successful, so that’ll be good for all of us. Hopefully, by switching those dates around it’ll help Atlanta and California.”
