Hampton, GA – Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Joe Gibbs Racing, qualified 10th for tomorrow night’s PEPBOYS Auto 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The No. 11 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota started this morning as one of the quickest cars on the track, posting the 3rd fastest time in the first practice. Unfortunately, the final practice wasn’t as positive as the first, as the team fought a very tight Toyota that wouldn’t turn in the corners like the team would have preferred. With the Farm Bureau Insurance team focused on getting the No. 11 handling better, they didn’t have a chance to run a real mock qualifying lap during the final practice, so they were unsure of what to expect going into Coors Pole Qualifying. However, Denny proved he’s fast regardless – posting a lap good enough to start the No. 11 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota 10th for tomorrow night’s Sprint Cup Series race.

“The Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota Camry was a little tight in the center of the corners during our lap. Picked up eight tenths from practice though, which is an improvement, but it was just too tight to contend for the pole,” said Denny Hamlin after exiting the No. 11 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota during Coors Pole Qualifying.

Denny Hamlin can clinch a coveted spot in the NASCAR Sprint Cup “Race for the Chase” tomorrow night and starting 10th in the No. 11 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota tomorrow night is definitely a step in the right direction.
