Jimmie Johnson (who was fastest in the first practice session) captured his 21st-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coors Light Pole Award, as he ran a qualifying lap speed of 157.356 mph, for Sunday’s AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway.

This is Johnson’s second series pole of 2009; as well as, his second series pole at Dover.

As like last weekend, the current series points leader, Mark Martin, qualified for the 14th-starting position.

Sharing the front row with Johnson is Juan Pablo Montoya, who ran a speed of 156.699 mph, for the outside pole position. They will be followed by Ryan Newman (156.393) who will start third, Greg Biffle (156.284) fourth, David Reutimann (155.979) fifth, Kasey Kahne (155.871) sixth, Jeff Gordon (155.777) seventh, Clint Bowyer (155.555) eighth, Sam Hornish Jr. (155.494) ninth and Paul Menard (155.434) will round out the top-10 starting positions.

Failing to qualify was the #4 driven by Scott Wimmer.
