WHAT: Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart is working with Old Spice to give one lucky fan the champagne- and sweat-soaked towel he used in victory lane after winning Sunday’s Price Chopper 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City. It was Stewart’s fourth point-paying Sprint Cup win of the season, but first in the Chase for the Championship.

The unwashed and autographed Old Spice towel was handed over to a charity auction to benefit the Tony Stewart Foundation, and will run for one week beginning at 9 a.m. EDT on Monday, Oct. 5.

Fans can place a bid for the autographed towel by logging on to www.OldSpice.com or www.TonyStewart.com.

Throughout the 2009 racing season, every time Stewart wins a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race or a NASCAR Nationwide Series race, his Old Spice victory lane towel will be auctioned off for charity.

The towel from Stewart’s Nationwide Series win earlier this season at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway raised $1,025. The towel he used in victory lane following the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race near Charlotte, N.C., went for $814. The towel from Stewart’s Sprint Cup win at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, which was Stewart’s first point-paying win as a driver/owner with Stewart-Haas Racing, went for $1,135. The towel from Stewart’s Sprint Cup win in July at Daytona went for $735. The towel from Stewart’s Sprint Cup win in August at the Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International road course went for $760. And in a special auction, the Old Spice “Swagger” firesuit Stewart wore in the Sprint Cup Series’ return visit to Pocono in August fetched $2,425.01. Since 2006 when Old Spice began auctioning off Stewart’s victory lane towels and other race-worn items, a total of $25,473.02 has been raised for charity.

BACKGROUND: Old Spice is a longtime NASCAR sponsor, celebrating 10 years of partnership with Stewart. As a NASCAR driver, Stewart relies on Old Spice anti-perspirants, deodorants and body washes to stay cool and smell great before and after a race, and can currently be seen in the latest Old Spice Swagger commercial.

Old Spice is the No. 1 anti-perspirant/deodorant stick and body wash choice for guys in the United States.

The Tony Stewart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds primarily distributed to three specific groups – chronically ill children, drivers injured in motorsports activities and organizations dedicated to the protection of various animal species. To date, the Foundation has awarded almost $4 million to assist charitable initiatives for more than 130 organizations throughout the United States.
